An English version of the Danish Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change will be published during COP 15. Until then, this page gives you the most important information on climate change adaptation in Denmark.

Climate change will bring warmer summers and more powerful and frequent storms to Denmark. This calls for initiatives towards adaptation to the changing climate. The English Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change in Denmark will give you an overview of needs for adaptation and concrete steps already taken in Denmark.

The content of the Portal will be divided by different sectors in society to which climate change adaptation will be significantly relevant. In addition, the Portal will contain cases which demonstrates how citizens, public authorities and businesses adapt to the changing climate with ingenuity.

The Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change is anchored in a cross-cutting Coordination Forum for Climate Change Adaptation including representatives from nine ministeries, Local Government Denmark and Danish Regions. The portal is developed by the the Information Centre for Climate Change Adaptation under the Ministry of Climate and Energy in collaboration with an array of other institutions.

In March 2008 the Danish Government published the "Danish Strategy for Adaptation to a changing climate"(Pdf) which analyses the need for adaptation sectorally, and describes the Government's strategy for adaptation.

The Danish Energy Agency has drawn up a factsheet giving you the essentials about climate change adaptation in Denmark and the aim of the Danish Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change.

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has in cooperation with the Coordination Unit for Research in Climate Change Adaptation, and the Ministry of Climate and Energy prepared the report "Mapping of Climate Reseach in Denmark". The report contains an overview of the Danish climate research including research in climate change adaptation.
